We’re excited to share big news with our Phoenix District community—Ed Sharrer has officially joined the Phoenix Development Council as our new Executive Director!
With more than a decade of experience in district revitalization and place-based development, Ed is a champion for community-led progress. He brings a track record of building strong, inclusive neighborhoods and supporting local businesses in ways that leave a lasting impact.
Ed is well-known for his leadership in Tulsa’s Kendall Whittier Main Street, where his strategic and collaborative approach helped the district reach full commercial occupancy and achieve a business success rate of over 90%. His ability to connect with stakeholders, amplify community voices, and spark momentum has been key to his success.
“I’ve worked in cities and small towns across the country—from Florida to St. Louis—and I’ve learned that every neighborhood has a unique story,” Ed shared during a recent Phoenix District Neighborhood meeting. “The Phoenix District has passion, vision, and momentum. I’m deeply honored to be part of it.”
Ed first worked with the Phoenix Development Council in 2024, when he helped deliver the organization’s current strategic plan. That experience left a lasting impression.
“At the time, I told my wife, ‘If I ever went back into district management, a place like the Phoenix District would be exactly the kind of challenge I’d embrace,’” Ed recalled. “When the opportunity opened, I knew I had to apply.”
Now, as Executive Director, Ed is bringing that same enthusiasm and commitment to our neighborhood—working hand in hand with residents, business owners, and partners to shape a future that reflects the community’s vision and values.
The Phoenix Development Council Board of Directors is thrilled to welcome Ed to the team.
“Ed brings a unique mix of visionary thinking and hands-on experience,” said Tracy Gibbs, Board President. “His commitment to equity, inclusivity, and place-based development aligns perfectly with our mission.”
We’re excited for what’s ahead and proud to have Ed Sharrer leading the charge toward a stronger, more vibrant Phoenix District.
